Company History
Malibu Boats can trace its history back to 1982 in Merced, California, named for the iconic beach city farther south. At first, they produced just two boats a week, but demand for these impressive crafts quickly grew until they had a 9% share of the market by 1988.In 1992, they opened a production facility in Tennessee to make it easier to access eastern markets, paving the way to become today’s largest manufacturer of watersports towboats in the world. This is partially thanks to the recent interest in watersports activities, increasing the demand for these kinds of boats. And Malibu was ready to answer the call.
